At this time of transition, we ask God’s blessing on children changing classes at school and for those moving school; young people pursuing further training, education and new jobs; this church as it enters another phase in its development; and finally we ask God’s blessing on Jeff and Sheila as they settle into Jeff’s new ministry.
We pray that God will guide our churchwardens and other church leaders in their preparation for and recruitment of a new vicar for St John’s. We pray that he or she will be happy here and can build on and further enable the development of the parish’s strong Christian foundation.
We praise God for the many ministries here at St John’s and thank God for ministry leaders and all those supporting them and the work of the church. We ask God’s spirit to further inspire those involved in outreach to the community to strengthen their own commitment to Jesus, and to increasingly make Jesus known.
Heal those parishioners who are suffering either physically or emotionally, Lord. Give comfort and a capacity to cope to those whom you will call back to You.
At this time of escalating tensions, when the world and this country face several threats, we pray that global decision makers and British leaders will act with integrity and strive for justice and peace for all.
We thank you for the summer and the opportunities offered for rest, relaxation and family time. We thank you for your bounteous gifts: the beauty of nature, the harvest and foods you provide for us, other people to offer us support and fellowship, your Word, your Spirit to strengthen us and provide us with discernment.
As we face a new week, may we reflect our faith and your Spirit in our interaction with those we meet through work, play and domestic life.
