Stepping stones

Each Sunday Stepping Stones starts at St John's Church on Sunday mornings at 11.00am. Around 11.20 we move down to the church centre - just 30 yards down the hill - and remain until around 12.15 when everyone else joins us. All children from the age of 2 and a half - 7 years are welcome - Mum or Dad can stay if you like.

About Us

We call ourselves Stepping Stones as we see each group that meets in the church centre as a stepping stone on our journey through the children's groups. Stepping Stones meets on Sunday mornings at St. John's Church, Egham. We start in church at 11 am, and then leave after about 15 minutes and gather together in the church centre. There is a creche for our very young members who meet in a small room in the church centre. Here the children play with toys, do colouring and listen to songs etc. In the term after the children are two and a half years old they move into Mini Scramblers, and as they grow older they progress to Maxi Scramblers, Climbers, and Trekkers. The children leave Stepping Stones to move on to Explorers each September, at the same time as they progress to year three in their schools. Each Sunday Stepping Stones worship together as a whole group and pray together. Children are encouraged to contribute towards a collection and the recipient(s) of this will vary from term to term. We make this as much fun as possible as God loves a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians Ch.9 Vs. 7

We also celebrate birthdays and any special events, then we usually split into small groups where the children will hear a bible story and work on a related craft activity. Parents are welcome to stay with their children in the church centre, or return to the adult service in church. In Stepping Stones we try to create a caring, loving environment where the children have a fun time worshipping God. We want the children to enjoy coming to Stepping Stones and learning about God so we teach using a variety of methods including stories, drama, puppets, interactive sketches etc. We hope as the children grow they will remember the words of God that they hear on a Sunday, and as they journey on through their Christian life their path will be lit by the teaching they receive with us. Once or twice a term we hold activities on a Saturday such as a Christmas craft afternoon, a party in the new year, and praise parties. We encourage children to bring their friends so they too can experience the friendship of God. By the time children leave Stepping Stones they will know Jesus as their friend, they will know they can talk to Him any time and that they are very special and important to Him.
