Squash

St John's squash ladder was formed about 4 years ago to encourage people to increase fitness whilst having fun. We run a very informal ladder and meet every Thursday between 8.00pm - 9.00pm at the Royal Holloway University squash courts situated in Englefield Green.

Men & women of all abilities are always welcome. We run a handicap system which helps some of the less experienced players to compete with those who play to a higher standard, so even if you may think you aren't good enough to ever reach the top of the ladder, you will actually stand a fair chance! Some of the more keen players show up every week with others just playing once in a while.

We have 2 courts booked for an hour each Thursday so everyone should have the opportunity to play several games. Often we continue play after 9.00pm, sometimes up until 10.00pm if not exhausted!

The emphasis is on keeping fit whilst enjoying the game therefore we don't really have any formal rules but tend to consult the abbreviated version of the World Singles Squash Rules if any disputes need to be settled! There are no subs or weekly fees to pay but the occasional donation towards costs of the court hire is always appreciated. Several of the regular players are also keen runners so the opportunity is always there to arrange a social run to help increase or maintain fitness which makes the game of squash far more enjoyable.

If you would like to play some squash either regularly or just occasionally then please contact Chris Brent for more information.
