New Church Centre

New Church Centre

Thanks to the vision and faithfulness of our forebears we are blessed with an outstanding town centre location and inspiring Georgian Church building, which was beautifully re-ordered in 1999 and which will continue to be the vibrant heart of our worship, teaching and celebration together. The new Church Centre has been designed to celebrate and complement our beautiful Church building: Portland Stone facing that will match the stone used to build the Church will be used along with modern construction techniques and materials.

The two buildings are joined with a glass atrium which will serve as a bright and welcoming entrance area accessible from both Church and Centre and creating a hub at the heart of Egham where the Church Family can engage with the wider community.

The Church Centre is on two floors, but will be built on ground lower than the Church so the first floor will correspond to the ground floor level of the Church. Large curtain windows and windows in the roof design ensure it will be light and airy. The ground floor is especially designed to support our work with children with plenty of space, a secure entrance, a dedicated garden, a small kitchen space for the Nursery staff, rooms to meet with parents and child friendly loos!

Also on the ground floor is a church welcome desk and good office facilities for the Church Administration Team at last. The first floor, accessible by stairs and a lift, will have a Prayer Room, several larger meeting rooms, plenty of space for large groups to gather for events, meals and fellowship. And of course there will be a substantial kitchen. There will be space for clergy, pastoral and staff team and volunteers to meet and work together and to engage in ministry using counselling rooms, a staff team room and ministry offices. A new crèche room will be created with access directly from the church.

We plan to improve the grounds with landscaping to include new paths, a more attractive and reflective garden with the current Garden of Remembrance and an open space to encourage the community to enjoy the church grounds. The building will be designed with energy efficient technologies to reduce environmental impact.
