What St John’s activities go on at Virginia Lodge?

As well as being the current home of the St John’s Church Office, Virginia Lodge supports a range of our ministries and activities.  You can find out more below or follow the links to more information on the website.

The Kitchen is open 10am-2pm on Wednesdays offering drinks, light meals and home-made cakes, along with a warm welcome, fellowship and the opportunity to connect with St John’s services such as our CAP debt centre and the pastoral team.

The St John’s CAP (Christians Against Poverty) debt centre, which providcap-primary-logo_greenes practical support to people who are struggling with debts, with the aim of enabling them to become debt-free, and also offers the CAP Money Course.

The St John’s pastoral team, offering support and care for individuals both within St. John’s and in the community.  Lunches for retired men also take place at Virginia Lodge, about four times a year.

The Shed is open on Thursday mornings (10am-12pm), Shed logoproviding opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to learn skills in woodworking, metalwork and plastics, in a safe and welcoming environment, enjoying fellowship and friendship with others.

Virginia Lodge supports slgour student ministry, particularly our Student Life Group, which meets there on Tuesday evenings in term-time, and weekly study days take place in the summer term giving students a space to revise and prepare for exams, and enjoy an evening meal together.

What else goes on at Virginia Lodge?

We are pleased to host a number of other activities at St John’s, which support our aim of serving our community as well as our own ministries.

  • Brownies and Guides – St John’s Brownie and Guide groups meet at Virginia Lodge in term-time.
  • The Runnymede Foodbank is now open at Virginia Lodge on Monday mornings (10.00am-12.00pm).
  • Runnymede Christian Fellowship hold their services at Virginia Lodge on Sunday mornings at 10.30am.
  • A Next Steps Wellbeing Group meets on Monday afternoons (1.00-3.00pm), offering support to people suffering from mental health problems or looking to build their self-confidence and self-esteem.
