Being a family church we love to welcome new babies into St John’s. We are also aware that with a new baby comes an exciting but exhausting time for the proud new parents!
Have you had to cook a meal when you have been up most of the night, changed countless nappies and not even had time to dress?
To help with this we hope to provide the families with 2 weeks of evening meals to help overcome the difficulties of juggling a new born baby with cooking a main meal.
For further details please contact Sacha Sheppard.
Or can you help by joining our rota and cooking an occasional meal?
More about the newborn meals service:
What is this?
About 3 ½ years ago we started a service providing evening meals for church families who had just had babies. We aim to provide them with evening meals for about 2 weeks. We use a fantastically simple website called www.foodtidings.com which is set up especially for this purpose and people can sign up to a date that is convenient. We have managed to support many families during their first few weeks for which they have been so appreciative.
On occasions we have managed to provide meals for people who are unwell and for other families with new babies in the community who come to Playtime.
What do I cook?
Anything! Most of us cook an evening meal so why not make double one day and put it in the freezer so it is ready at a moments notice? It doesn’t have to be anything fancy just a normal evening meal. e.g. Spaghetti Bolognese, Lasagne, Chicken curry, Fish pie…..
How can I help?
We would love to be able to expand this wonderful service to not only people who have had babies, but to those who are unwell and more families in the local community such as those who come to Playtime. To do this we need a few more people who would be willing to cook. It is only one meal occasionally so please contact Heidi Blake or the church office if you can help out.
