|Rev Esther Prior – Esther is married to Matt and they have a son and daughter. Prior to ordination, she lived in Zimbabwe; working in Marketing before becoming a Parish Worker, a position she held until she came to England for Theological Education in 1999. After ordination, Esther served two Curacies – the second as a joint appointment with Matt. Post Curacy, she was first a School Chaplain and then a Young Offenders Prison Chaplain. She comes to us after 7 fruitful years as Team Vicar in Farnborough. Esther is passionate that St John’s should be a loving and growing community where God’s people are equipped to follow Jesus from Monday to Sunday: at church, home, school, work and play. She loves cooking, reading, Zumba, travel and time with family.|
|Rachel Upcott, Children and Families Worker – Rachel was brought up in the Midlands. She moved south to train as a dance teacher in secondary schools. She has lived in Egham since 1985 and has been involved in children’s work at St. Johns since 1990 and has completed the Diocesan Certificate in Children’s Ministry. Rachel is married to Robin and is mother to five children, 4 cats and at present two puppets called John and Cookie.|
|Matt Prior – Associate Minister – Matt is married to the Vicar as well as being ordained himself. He has worked in both inner city and suburban settings, and enjoys forging unity in mission. He has been Discipleship Adviser for Guildford Diocese since 2015 and has just completed a long-running PhD – on how Christians might live in an era of rapid technological change. He loves cricket, most things French, reading and travelling to Africa.|
|Johnny Sheppard – Worship Creative Team Leader – AV – Johnny joined St Johns back in 2000 when he started University at Royal Holloway. After graduating, he worked as the Student worker at St John’s for a year and was involved with website development for the church. He now works in IT for a local company. He’s been a long term member of the Worship Creative Team, and has always loved being involved with the technology side of things. He’s married to Sacha and has a young son.|
|Carol Peters, Pastoral Team Leader – I have been involved at St. Johns since moving to Egham in 1982. As a warden I undertook the Growing Leaders Course and am now Pastoral Team Leader, having taken the Diocesan training course. I love being involved in the community with a part time job in a local primary school. I am married to Chris and we have 3 boys. Our leisure time as a family includes attending Fulham Football Club as Season ticket holders.|
|Veronica Cresswell, Administrator and Warden – Veronica has enjoyed attending St John’s since she moved to Egham over 20 years ago, during which time her two children were born and have grown up in Egham. She is married to Steve who has four children. As well as having worked in the Church Office for ten years, she is also a Life Group leader and Unit Leader at 2nd Egham (St John’s) Guides.|
|Dal Hettiarachi, Assistant Administrator – I have been coming to St John’s for about 14 years and have been involved with Children’s work in the past. I am now one of the leaders of Home Oasis as well as being part time administrator. I am married to Sam Senanayake, and we have two sons. In my spare time I’m a counsellor at a Christian Counselling agency in Camberley, and enjoy cardmaking!|
|Michael Callaghan, Honorary Curate
Michael is at manifold times and in sundry places a minister in secular appointment, working as a lawyer in London during the week and assisting with services at St Johns since his arrival in Egham in 2007, husband to Kim, father to two boys and grandfather. He sets cryptic crosswords for the Church Times, the Independent and an on-line blog.
|Nicola Cadet de Fontenay, Lay Pastor – Students and Youth
Nicola moved to Egham in September 2016 from Putney in London although hails originally from Birmingham. Nicola moved away from training as an RE teacher into youth ministry and re trained with CYM achieving a degree in Youth and Community Work and Practical Theology in 2015. Nicola is married to Laurent and they live together with Snoop the guide dog!
|Simon Fraser, Assistant Curate
Simon served for 22 years as a Police Officer in the Metropolitan Police before going into full time Christian ministry. He was ordained as a Free Church minister but started attending St Johns in 2014 and was ordained in June 2018.
Simon is a keen motorcyclist and enjoys walking his dog. He also enjoys reading and is interested in current affairs.
