One Response to “God is Trustworthy”

A difficult topic, handled well. The magnitude of human suffering and the suffering of all creation through the ages is so vast as to be incalculable. However, I do trust God, for in the same way that He allowed Jesus’ sacrifice for a higher purpose, I trust that the rest of the world’s suffering is somehow worth it for reasons that we cannot know because we do not see the entire picture. As the Lord told Isaiah, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways…For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts…my word will not return to me empty, but will accomplish the purpose for which I sent it.” Your personal example of leading the children down the difficult scree slope, and the children being unaware of the dangers of the longer way round down around the shoulder of the mountain is a useful illustration. As we endure struggles during our earthly lives, we cannot know or imagine the greater perils that God is protecting us from.
